The short version
- FrameDrop runs 100% on your machine. Your video is never uploaded — not to us, not to anyone.
- We only get your email if you type it into one of our forms (waitlist, export, bug report).
- Payments and license keys are handled by Gumroad. We never see your card.
- Every app works without a license. If you enter a license key, the app sends only that key to Gumroad to check it, then re-checks about once a month.
- The website uses no cookies. Analytics are cookieless and anonymous (Cloudflare Web Analytics).
- Crash reports from the Mac app only reach us if you choose to email them.

01Who we are
FrameDrop is made by La Hacienda LLC, a small creative studio in Medford, Massachusetts. "We" and "us" on this page means La Hacienda. This policy covers the FrameDrop website (framedrop.video), the browser app, the Mac app, and the FrameDrop plugins (the Figma plugin and the Premiere panel).
02Your videos and contact sheets
FrameDrop reads your video, pulls frames and builds the contact sheet inside your browser tab or the Mac app, on your computer. The file is never sent to a server. That includes ProRes/MOV conversion: in the browser it runs locally via WebAssembly, and in the Mac app it runs through a bundled copy of ffmpeg.
Settings, presets and your last session are saved in your browser's local storage (or the Mac app's local data folder) so they're there next time. They stay on your device. Clear your browser data or delete the app to remove them.
03What we collect, and when
We only receive information you choose to send. Here's every case:

We use these emails to tell you about FrameDrop (the launch, important updates), to answer you, and to fix bugs. That's it. Want off the list or want your data deleted? Email gonz@lahacienda.media and we'll do it.
04Analytics and cookies
The FrameDrop website does not use cookies.
The marketing pages use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused tool. It counts things like page views, which page you came from, your country and device type. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't store your IP address, and doesn't follow you across other sites. It runs only on the marketing pages — never inside the FrameDrop app. You can read Cloudflare's policy at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
05Payments and license keys
FrameDrop licenses are sold through Gumroad, which acts as the merchant of record: they take the payment, handle sales tax/VAT, send your receipt and issue your license key. Your purchase is covered by Gumroad's privacy policy as well as this one.
Every FrameDrop app works without a license (up to 24 frames per sheet), and without a key nothing about licensing is sent anywhere. A key is only checked if you enter one. When you do, the app — the browser app, the Mac app, the Figma plugin or the Premiere panel — sends the key to Gumroad's license API (api.gumroad.com) to check that it's real and hasn't been refunded. If the app can't reach Gumroad directly, it sends the same key to our own small check at framedrop.video/api/verify-license, which asks Gumroad and passes the answer back. That check doesn't log or store your key. After that, each app re-checks about once every 30 days. No video, file names or usage data go with it.
Gumroad's answer includes basic purchase details (such as the purchase email and whether the sale was refunded). The app keeps the key and the result on your device so it keeps working offline:
- Browser app: in your browser's local storage for framedrop.video. Clearing site data removes it.
- Mac app: in a small file in the app's data folder on your Mac. The Mac app also counts activations (one license works on up to 3 Macs).
- Figma plugin: in Figma's plugin storage (clientStorage) on your computer.
- Premiere panel: in the panel's secure storage on your computer.
The browser app and the plugins check the key without using up one of your 3 Macs.
06Crash reports (Mac app)
If the Mac app crashes, it saves a short report on your Mac and asks whether you want to send it. Nothing is sent automatically. If you say yes, it opens your own email app with a pre-filled message to us, which you can read and edit before sending. The report contains the time, app version, macOS version, chip type and the technical error details. It does not contain file names, file paths, video content or any identifier.
07Things the apps load from the internet
Like any website, a few requests do leave your machine. None of them include your video.
- Hosting. The website and browser app are hosted on Netlify, which keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, time of request).
- Fonts and code libraries. The browser app loads fonts from Google Fonts and code libraries (ZIP export, the video converter) from public CDNs (cdnjs, unpkg). Those services see your IP address and browser, the same as visiting any site that uses them.
- License check (only if you enter a key). The key goes to Gumroad, or to our check at framedrop.video if Gumroad can't be reached, as described in section 05.
- Update check (Mac app). About once a day the Mac app downloads a small file from framedrop.video to see if there's a new version. It sends nothing about you or your files.
08Sharing, selling, keeping
We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't use it for advertising. We share it only with the services named on this page, to run FrameDrop, or if the law requires it.
We keep waitlist and customer emails while FrameDrop is around or until you ask us to delete them. Purchase records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require (Gumroad keeps its own copy).
09Your rights
You can ask us what we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email gonz@lahacienda.media. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have more rights under local law — we'll honor them.
FrameDrop isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
10Changes and contact
If how FrameDrop handles data changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For a big change, we'll say so on the site.
