§ 04 — Questions

Things people
actually ask.

Does my video get uploaded? +
No. The file stays on your machine. Nothing leaves the browser tab — check your network panel if you want to verify.
Why not just do this in Premiere? +
You can. It takes 20 clicks, a nested sequence, and an export pass. FrameDrop takes one.
What file formats work? +
MP4 (H.264/H.265), WebM, OGG. MOV/ProRes works too. If in doubt, export H.264 from your NLE.
How much? +
Free up to 24 frames per sheet, in every FrameDrop app. A $10 one-time license takes you up to 120 frames — in the browser, the Mac app, the Figma plugin and the Premiere panel, with one key. The license goes on sale with 1.0.
What's free? +
Everything except sheets over 24 frames. Every layout, every export format, color palettes, opening a video from a URL, and ProRes/MOV in the Mac app. No app is ever locked, no watermark, no account.
What does the $10 license unlock? +
Sheets of 25 to 120 frames, everywhere you use FrameDrop. One-time, no subscription, 14-day refund. In the Mac app one key works on up to 3 Macs; the browser and the plugins don't count toward that.
What about the Figma plugin and the Premiere panel? +
Same deal: free up to 24 frames, and the same key unlocks 120. Your key is checked with Gumroad when you enter it and about once a month after that. Never your footage.
How fast? +
60-second 1080p clip → 12-frame grid in about 3–5 seconds. Tweaks after that are near-instant (cached frames).
Who made this? +
La Hacienda — a creative studio in Medford, MA. Run by Gonz Veloz. FrameDrop was built for his own edits, then shared.
Found a bug? +
Tell us. Links in the footer. We iterate weekly. Or check the full docs for troubleshooting steps.
